Gute Fahrt!

Yes, you read the headline correctly! This is actually just the simple phrase Germans use in place of "have a nice trip."

Gute, of course, means good, and the noun fahrt in German is like our words journey, trip, drive, etc. So when someone leaves a parking garage or lot, there are usually signs that say "Gute Fahrt!"

And if that wasn't enough for you, don't be shocked when you see signs on the Autobahn for entrance, which is Einfahrt (in-drive), and exit, which is Ausfahrt (out-drive).

Say it again in your head and feel free to giggle. I did. :-)
